The Juliano and Robinson labs are working together to develop new methods and technologies for the
study of gene function in Hydra, to support and promote use of Hydra for biological research.
Their work is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation’s
Enabling Discovery through Genomic Tools (EDGE) program, and the methods and technologies they develop will be openly shared and immediately available for use.

Celina Juliano is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, College of Biological Sciences at UC Davis and co-founder of Cnidofest.
Her lab is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms that control Hydra homeostasis and regeneration.
Jacob Robinson is an Associate Professor in Electrical & Computer Engineering and Bioengineering at Rice University, and an Adjunct Associate Professor in Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine.
His research group uses nanofabrication technology to create devices that can manipulate and monitor neural circuit activity.
